The project ‘orsi polari'

The winter cimento tradition has been going on, as mentioned, since 1899. Kicking off the first edition was Colonel Nino Vaudano, the passionate founder of Rari Nantes Torino and among the first promoters of Italian swimming. The demonstration back then kicked off a tradition of cimenti on the banks of the Po and helped spark a love for a still little-known discipline. Since that time, without interruption, during the last week of January, characterized by frigid temperatures and often snow, a group of people armed with courage swim a few strokes in the Turin river.
The Winter Cimento is not only a beautiful celebration but aims to bring citizens closer to the Po River. The intent is to show that you can safely swim even in open water and, at the same time, demand respect for an ecosiste

Project Goals

In the last three editions of the Winter Swimming Event, all donations made by participants have been entirely donated to the ToSwim Inclusive Academy.

Rari Nantes Torino, the organization that has been hosting the Winter Swimming Event on the Po River for 125 years, is a founding member of the ToSwim Inclusive Academy, a philanthropic association dedicated to promoting solidarity and social inclusion through swimming and related aquatic sports activities. Its mission is to foster physical and psychological well-being through swimming, particularly for the most vulnerable groups in society, within schools, workplaces, and in disease prevention.

We would like to thank all participants of the Winter Swimming Event who have helped us support the projects of the ToSwim Inclusive Academy.

The donations collected during the 123rd and 124th editions funded the projects of the N.S.A. Association – Nuoto Subacquea, specifically the “Inclusive Underwater Laboratory DDI” project. Attached are the two bank transfers that were made.
