Non-profit organization that promotes the quality of life of individuals diagnosed with ALS by raising funds to provide support to patients and their families.

Swim For ELA Association was born from the merger of Upside Down-Challenge and Malalts D’Aigua. Upside Down was created to continue raising awareness about the disease after its promoter, Dani Rossinés, lost his close friend, Jano Galán, to ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Jano made Dani promise to keep raising awareness about the disease in the way he knew best—by swimming.
In September 2020, Dani swam across Catalonia, from Port Bou, a town in the Alt Empordà region, to Les Cases d’Alcanar, a town in the Montsià region, covering 400 kilometers from one end of Catalonia to the other. This incredible feat raised over €85,000.
In June 2021, Dani swam around the entire island of Menorca, raising over €18,000.
In 2022, the first edition of Swim For ELA took place, raising €32,000, and in its second edition in 2023, the event raised €37,000.
The funds raised between May 2022 and November 2023 were donated in part to the Fundació Catalana per l’ELA Miquel Valls, which works to support people affected by ALS and their families, and in part to IDIBELL, the research institute of the Bellvitge University Hospital in l’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona.
the mission
The mission of the Swim For ELA Association is to raise money for people affected by ALS and their families, as well as for research, through sports. In our case, this is done by organizing a non-competitive open-water swim of 23 kilometers, from the Port de Calafat in l’Ametlla de Mar to Cambrils (Tarragona).
Throughout the year, we strive to participate in all sports events that we organize and are invited to, to raise awareness about the association and our work, to continue increasing visibility for ALS, and to support research efforts.
We close the season with a gala dinner where we announce the total funds raised throughout the year and present the money to the foundation and research labs.

- La campaña en Kickstarter, que comenzó el 16 de octubre, tiene como meta recaudar al menos 40.000 €, una suma indispensable para completar la fase de postproducción y lanzar el documental en festivales de cine a principios de 2025.
